In most areas a patio or pergola requires a building permit or development approval. Every ClickSteel patio includes engineering certificates to support your application, but approval requirements vary by council and site — always check with your local council or a private certifier before you build.
Yes. Patios are supplied as a complete, engineered kit of parts with instructions, so a confident DIYer can assemble one with standard tools. If you’d prefer, hand the kit to a builder or use our Find A Tradie network.
Insulated panels (SolarSpan® / InsulRoof®) have a foam core between two steel skins — they block radiant heat, dampen rain noise and give a finished ceiling underneath. A single-skin steel roof is a standard COLORBOND® sheet: lighter and lower cost, ideal where insulation isn’t essential.
